It is the coming together of heavyweights in the cultural and history industry as African American Maritime History joins forces with The Lowcountry Rice Culture Project, the Gullah Geechee Federal Corridor, and the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute to create an eye-opening travel tour. The goal of the week-long event is to enlighten participants about the rich cultural history of Black people in colonial America, but especially their impact on the maritime industry during the first global economy.

African Americans have played significant roles in the development of America and the United States. The situation is not any different in the maritime industry. However, the history of Black people, their plight, and contributions to the development of maritime industries, especially during the colonial era are often not projected to the world. Consequently, African American Maritime History in collaboration with these other organizations is looking to change the narrative with the launch of a travel tour.

The Premium African American Maritime History Travel Tour takes place from April 30 to May 5, 2023. The trip includes a stay is a magnificently historic, upscale hotel with unique and private dining experiences for breakfast, lunch and dinner, local transportation, all admissions to museums, cultural activities, and tourist sites.
